More Christmas Candies!

YUMMY! These are my favorite spice balls. I've been making them every Christmas since someone at church gave me her recipe! OMG! I could eat a whole pan of them... Luckily they take FOR-EVER to make, so I only make them once a year! :D

How Sweet It Is!

Yeah, you think I'm talking about that minty fresh, chocolatey, nutty goodness we made tonight. But no! I'm talking about having two daughters who are old enough and excited enough to make about 100 of these babies with no help! SWEET!

Last but not least!

The Pritchards are probably some of the sweetest people I've ever worked with. It was only a couple of months ago that I shot Kara's wedding, but when they heard about my mini sessions, they signed up immediately! I was so glad to see everyone again and talk to Kara about how her first couple of months of marriage is going! :D

Question of the week.

What were the top 3 priorities for your wedding in order?

I'm SO glad photos are at least in everyone's top three! :D

Halie: Venue dress photos

Karen: Husband, food, location! :-)

Emily: Photos, Photos, Photos! Which is why we chose you!! :-)

Jen: Venue, photos, dress!

Alison: Photos, Dress and cake...just because i already had the venue and food automatically taken care of!! Photos were number 1 for me!!

Gail: Venue, photos, dresses, FLOWERS, food and cake

Heather: photos, venue, dress

Ashley: Photos!!!, dress, flowers

Rhonda: Dress, Photos, venue. Photos are almost as important as the dress...thats what you have left years later.......Glad to have had a great photographer for my daughter.

I'm soooo happy the day of our Dallas mini session was so warm. I even took off my coat halfway through! Good thing we didn't shoot it today! 11 degrees this morning! Brrrrr. Stay warm and check out this cutie!

The Feel of Cotton!

If I were to keep records of how fast I turn around a session, I think this one would win it! We shot Kendal and Swayze's E-Session yesterday at their family's cotton field in Cave Spring. I was SOOOO excited about seeing how they turned out that I finished them last night! What a gorgeous setting with a gorgeous couple. And I usually don't say much about the grooms because, well, let's face it guys, you just show up when she tells you to. But Swayze was SUCH a gentleman! I have three daughters and I hope they give me a son-in-law as awesome as this guy! :D

Question of the week!

Did you see each other before the wedding?

Melinda: Yes - I did not want to but that was the ONLY way our photographer would do it and I really wanted him so we took most all the pictures before the wedding and it worked out GREAT!

Jessica: I want to! But my super tradtitional fiance wouldnt help me pick out the dress or see me before!

Katelyn: Yep! We still had that special moment where it was just us and the photographer in the room though. My husband had his back to me and I walked out and he turned around and saw me and the photographer got some really great shots of us. Wouldn't have had it any other way.

Erica: Yes! It was just easier and I didn't want the guests at the reception to have to wait so long!

Kelly: No, we didn't-- we had this super great photographer ;) who ensured that all of our together pictures could be done in a timely manner after the ceremony and our guests didn't have to wait forever! I wouldn't have done it any other way :)

Donna: NO..... because I was running late! bwahahaha!

April: Yes we saw eachother and those were my favorite pics from the entire day!!! We had a beautiful moment together that I will never forget! And I had a great moment walking in with my dad that wouldn't have happened if my mind had been on my hubby to be!

Christy: Yes - so we would have more time for the photos!!!! It made the day so much more relaxed. After that initial moment with him, my stress melted and I was able to trully enjoy the rest of the day

Heather Yes! we did see each other, but u know that already ;) we saw each other before because we didn’t want our guests to wait for us at the reception and we got way better pics at the place we took them at!

Debbie: Yes, Cause I got married in Vegas!!!

Holly: No.....because HE didn't want to! I was all for having the pics finished...

Valerie: No we didn't see each other. He is a little superstitious!

Michele: No, we didn't. it was something that was important to me. I guess I just always pictured that i would see my husband for the first time on our wedding day when I walked down the isle :) it was awesome! I never thought about getting picture together first :)

Rachel: Yes!! I got married at a church but it wasn't one of those gorgeous background kind of churches so we went to Berry and let you take some amazing pictures of us. Plus it helped my nerves some also!

Mini Session Posts

My Dallas mini sessions this fall was a huge hit! But what’s even better is how excited everyone was to see their photos! After I posted Valerie’s sneak peek, I’ve had several messages from people about their's. It’s so much fun to me because I feel like it’s someone’s birthday every time I give them their photos! So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY RED!!!!

Thank you for being a friend!

I was getting my hair done by one of my past brides last week and we were chatting about how I have gotten to know her and all of her friends so well over the last couple of years. And she paid me one of the BEST compliments a photographer could ever get! She told me that when she tells other people about me, she says she "has a friend who's a photographer." Not just "my photogrpher." Wow! I didn't want to break down in tears in front of her and mess up my hair, but really!

The first time I shot Karen’s children was almost two years ago. I was glad she loved her photos, but what was even better and totally unexpected is Karen and I have also become friends. Over the last two years she’s kept me up to date on the local events and activities. We’ve joined groups like Girl Scouts, Summer Theater Camp, pottery classes and attended some local downtown events. And every time I see her daughter she stops what she’s doing to give me a hug.

This is why my job is more than just a job. It’s about creating relationships and friendships with people. I can honestly say that I feel like I’m friends with most of my clients! I even feel funny about calling them clients! Maybe I should start to call them friends….. And YOU TOO can be my friend! :D Hahaha!

Good Times!

I'm so lucky that my BFF invited me to be her +1 for the CNN Christmas party so I could see all of my old friends! I had SO much fun. Especially since I could go to a party and NOT be the photographer! Aside from getting my photo with Clark Howard (What, WHAT!), I also ran in to one of my buddies, Joel, from Lethal Rhythms. We run into each other about 3 or 4 times a year at all kinds of events. So he let me take the helm for a minute.... not really! :D My hands aren't even touching anything! :D But it WAS fun! Last night really was GOOD TIMES!!! :D

Day After Session!

I was so flattered when I got the call about a year after Brooke’s wedding to shoot a “day after” session. I wasn’t her wedding photographer, but she wanted to get some awesome wedding photos on their anniversary with me! So we got back in the dress and headed out to the farm! She couldn’t have picked a nicer day and there are SOOO many amazing photos to post, that I’ll probably do a slideshow soon for it, but for now, here’s a sneak peek at Brooke’s “Day After” Session….. a year later! :D

Laughter

When you meet Shannon, you can’t help but smile… no wait… laugh… noooooo….. you loose your breath, you’re crying and your chest, and face hurts from hysterically laughing with her! She is just one of the funniest people I’ve ever met! I enjoy every second I’m with her. Even when we met today to give her the CD from her session, she had me cracking up even after she drove away. Now THAT’S the kind of impession you want to leave with people! And YES, Shannon, I got your red shoes! :D

Happy December!!!!

The funny thing about Nicole is when I met her, I called her by her mother’s name by accident because I have shot just about everyone in her family already! :D I think this is by far the most coverage I’ve had of one family. Let’s see…. I shot her cousin, Christy’s engagement, bridal, and maternity sessions; Christy’s sister, Shannon’s senior portraits. Nicole’s sister, Chelsea’s engagement and bridal portraits, and now Nicole’s family! Whew. I should make a photo family tree for them! :D

Valerie

This is the third photo session I've shot for Valerie in the past year and a half and I'm always SO happy to get to work with her. It seems like this year about half of my sessions were repeat clients and that makes me feel so good because that means I must be doing something right! BTW....Valerie is the one who made my Super Awesome Bulldog Anniversary Cake! Love ya!

Ashley & Johnathan tied got married!

There are lots of reasons why this wedding was memorable to me...

Number one reason. I shot the entire wedding after getting food poisoning a couple of days before! I made it through though with a smile on my face.

Reason number 2. It is officially my last wedding of the season! Whoot Whoot! I'm taking a winter vacation from weddings till April of 2011. It's bitter sweet, but don't think I'll be sitting around eating bon bons (although I would enjoy that very much)! I'll be revamping the KTB and PMP websites, shooting lot's of sessions, holding a workshop for amateur photographers, a KTB workshop, and attending the WPPI convention for professional photographers in Las Vegas. So I'm staying SUPER busy!!!!

The last and my favorite reason this wedding was memorable to me?!? When Ashley was leaving at the end of the night, she hugged her bridesmaids, her mom, dad, then she turned to me and I asked for a photo. She smiled for the shot and then gave me a big hug goodbye and got into her car.... sniff sniff. What a most awesome way to end the season! A genuine hug from my bride! Yeah, she may have been caught up in the moment.... but she didn't hug the videographer!!! :D I'm just sayin'......

Happy Thanksgiving!

And thank YOU my fat, juicy, tender little scrumptious buddy! May you enjoy sharing a plate with Mr. Mashed Potatoes and Miss. Pumpkin Pie!

Wenesday, November 24, 2010

Question of the week!

Did you hire a videographer and how many times have you watched your video?

Katelyn: I had a friend video our wedding. Only watched it once though. Glad to have it.

Valerie: Yep.... and once on our 1 year anniversary.... we just celebrated our 6th!

Donna: My brother-in-law did ours. I used to watch it often, but haven't lately.

Karen: No but wish I had!

Anita: My wedding had 5 people videoing ...it was really odd to have a camera mounted at "12, 3, 6 & 9" during the ceremony...I haven't seen it since the mid 90's.

Keri + Adam = Engaged!

When Keri booked her wedding with me back in August, she mentioned it will be at Foxwoods in Tallapoosa. I never heard of it, but since then I've already booked three weddings there for 2011! We shot their engagement session last week and it did not dissapoint! It was a gorgeous location with SO many photo ops..... even the creepy old farmhouse! :D

The Hamiltons

I've been thinking for a week what I should blog about for my friend TaMara's family portrait session. I could write about her husband who is leaving for Afghanistan shortly and they wanted some great family photos before he left. Or, I could write about how I'm SOOO jealous of her clean house and very well behaved kids. I also thought about writing about how much I admire her for her faith and devotion. But nothing I could think about REALLY could sum up how I feel about her and her family. So.... I love you TaMara. That's all you get! :D

Your's Truly!

Here's the story...And I know I'm not the only photographer who has this problem...but we have NEVER had our family pictures taken by a photographer before. Yes, every year I set up the tripod and remotely snap a few, but this year I did a trade with my friend and talented photographer, April with Reflective Images Photography to shoot each other's family. She did the shooting and I did the edits.

I have to laugh, because I do this every day from the other end of the lens, but OMG how hard it was to get my picture taken!!! I was SO nervous and the baby was running away half the time and we couldn't get Emily to smile right! :D What an ordeal! Now I know what I put you all through every day. Thanks for toughing it out people!

Mr Wright!

Please forgive me for it, but how often would I ever get to say it! :D Nikole and Daniel will soon be Mr. and Mrs. Wright and their E-Session was a blast! I had a great time with them both and yes Daniel... I posted the jumping shot just for you! :D

Aaron's One-Year Session!

The thing I thought was SO cute about this little guy is how he's already a momma's boy! :D If Mommy stepped even a foot away, it would just break his heart! And he has, in my opinion, THE cutest cry E-V-E-R! So, when you see all of the cutie patootie photos of him... just imagine Mommy is sitting right next to him, just out of the frame! :D Happy Birthday Aaron!

Humble Pie...

I was chatting with someone a couple of days ago about photography... which my husband says is all I talk about. Anyhow, and told her that sometimes I think I do a pretty good job with what I do. I see a lot of budding photographers coming out and think I really have a leg up. But the worst thing someone can do in ANY proffession is to think they are the BEST. Because face it! There is ALWAYS someone out there who is better, prettier, or more talented. So I have a list of about 10 photographers' websites from around the US that I look at about once a week to give my self what I call a little bit of "Humble Pie." Just to remind myself that I still have a LOOOONG way to go to becoming a great photographer. But I'll settle for so-so photographer for right now. :D

Brooke's first hair cut.

I'm thinkin' oh, this won't take long. It's just her little bangs. She'll do fine! Ohhhh no! There was crying! There was fussing! There was squirming! But in the end, no poked out eyes and now she can see through all that hair! Thanks Halie for being SO patient! And yeah, don't let her shirt fool you! :D

Sandy + Chris

I always like a good getaway car, but YES! When Chris rolled up on his Harley Friday I was stoked! THAT is A-W-E-S-O-M-E! I had so much fun at their wedding and I have to give a shout out to Chase, my number 1 favorite groomsman! Wink Wink! :D

No Pressure Pam...

Stephanie called me many months ago to let me know that she was expecting a little girl and would like newborn photos. I penciled in her due date and it's been on my calendar for months! She's finally here and I was so excited to meet her yesterday! The photo shoot was the one of the easiest I can remember, and when I shot her family last year, it was the same way. They say it may be the Marine in Dad, but I don't know... everything went SO smoothly. No fussing, no crying, even the dog was super obedient! But one thing the whole hour made me nervous.... They kept saying, "We KNOW the pictures will be great!" And they didn't say it just once. Later on they said "You always do a great job." Ugh! No pressure Pam! What if I mess something up! What if I had my settings wrong! What if someone steals my camera while I'm at Wal-Mart grocery shopping! I always worry SOOO much that every session goes perfectly... so I hope I didn't let you down Stephanie! :D

Picking the right photographer.

When I got the call from Kristi I was partly excited, partly sad and mostly angry!!! I wasn't able to shoot her wedding this summer because I was in NY that weekend, so when she called me I was a little surprised to hear she wanted me to shoot a "day-after" session with her and her new husband. She then told me two things that shocked me! So this blog is first and foremost CELEBRATE Kristi & Golden! And secondly, a word of warning for anyone looking for a photographer.

#1. The CD that she recieved with all of her wedding photos was not a high resolution CD. She was able to upload them on facebook, but when she tried to print them, they were pixellated. That's because it was a CD for viewing, not printing. Make sure when you get the CD from your photographer that it is what you paid for. If you order the CD, make sure it is the High Resolution CD for printing and you get the copyright release for it. Some photographers don't offer this and say that you'll get the CD, but it's only the low-res for viewing. It can be tricky sometimes, so ask to make sure.

#2. Kristi told me that when she went back to her photographer to get the high-res CD, the photographer told her his computer crashed and he lost all of her files! So when she called me, she told me she just wants a few photos that she can enlarge and hang on her wall because at this point she has nothing! (I was mostly angry about this one). Make sure to ask your photographer about their methods of storing and backing up your photos. After a wedding I back up my photos in two places and put the raw files in a fire safe box. After I'm finished editing, I put the edited files on a hard drive in my fire safe box, make a CD backup, another external hard drive backup, and I also upload all of the edited files onto a website for storage. Call me crazy, but I don't want something like that to happen to me!

So, as we celebrate Kristi & Golden's wedding, please also learn from their experience and ask questions. We will not get offended if you do, and you'll be protected from making a terrible mistake!

Thanks Kristi, for thinking of me for your re-shoot! OXOXOXO!

Pluggin' 'em out!

This is an exciting week! It's the first week since JULY that I'm actually caught up!!! Whoooo hoooo! I always have a wedding and a handful of photo sessions in my queue and I'm super anxious to work on them because I hate to make people wait. So since last week was a much needed weekend off, I was able to catch up! For the most part at least. I still have one more session to edit and blog, but I feel SO free! Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!

Brittney + Jacob = Married!

A few weeks ago I wore red and black for Mallory's wedding because I knew Taylor was a UGA fan and I just wanted to "represent!" Everyone thought it was so cool that the bridesmaids were actually wearing red too! I totally matched! Well, I decided to change it up for Jana's wedding, and since I just bought a new purple shirt, I decided to wear that. When I got there, everyone was stoked that the bridesmaids dresses were purple too!!! Last week at Brittney's wedding I just wore a plain old grey shirt. I laughed about it and thought, wouldn't it be funny...... And y-e-s! The bridesmaids were wearing GREY!!!! Now, I don't want to say that I'm a super awesome photographer for matching my weddings three weeks in a row without even knowing it, but.... I'm just sayin'......... :D

Erin and Andrew sittin' in a tree...

I was so excited when Erin booked me for her wedding! She and Andrew are such a layed back couple and went along with just about anything their crazy photographer asked them to do...even laying in the grass! Their engagement session turned out wonderful and I just know the wedding photos are going to be even more awesome!

Chelsea's Bridal Photos!

I have been waiting for WEEKS to post Chelsea's bridal photos! I wasn't available for her wedding, but I was SO excited when they asked me to shoot their engagement and bridal portraits anyhow! She was just stunning and I know her wedding was amazing.... with or without me! :D

Jana & Philip Tie The Knot!

Believe me, I look forward to all weddings, but I REALLY was excited about this one. You wanna know why? Well, before the ceremony I looked around at all of the guests and counted, "Did their wedding....their wedding....newborn.....maternity.....family photos.... their wedding.... shooting their's next year..... oh their wedding and baby photos.... and it went on and on. I just LOVE this group! Even one of the groomsmen and I were joking that he's been in at least three of my wedding parties. The best part of them all is that I can just be my crazy, spaz-like self around them and they don't mind. They all trust me and really make me feel like I'm a guest rather than - just the photographer. Even Philip gave ME a high five during the reception after high-fiving all of his friends! REALLY! Thanks guys, for making me feel like an honorary best friend! Sniff Sniff.... :D

Anything for a good photo op!

This is what happens when you find the perfect spot for a photo and the little boy is too excited to sit still....."Hey kid? Wanna use the fancy camera!?! Only if you promise to sit and smile!" I only had about 5 seconds, but I got it!!! The perfect shot in the perfect spot! And I only sacrificed a high five, an embarassing photo, and maybe my camera...but I held on tight! :D

Keeping up with Pam Jones!

People are always telling me that they check out my blog every day, and for that I say, "I'm sorry!" I am in the midst of wedding season and editing every second I get a chance. Some may say that being a wedding photographer is such an easy job because you are only working 8 or 9 hours on a Saturday. But that's not all my friend. I have appointments, consultations, accounting, picture drop offs, photo sessions and much, much more! I really need an assistant! But what takes up the bulk of my time is editing. Yeah, the picture that comes right out of my camera in RAW format is great.... But editing that little gem of a picture, makes it a beautiful photograph! So, patience grasshoppers, I will be updating my blog as much as possible. And thank you for your support! :D

Here is a before and after from Jana's wedding.

Mallory and Taylor!

There are many reasons I enjoyed this wedding and one of them is that I got to shoot two weekends in a row at The McGarity House ! I really loved working with the families of both Mallory and Taylor also. They, along with the wedding party and all of the guests really made me feel like I was more like a guest than the photographer. Thanks so much for letting me share your day with you!

Kara + Jared = Married!

All of my brides hold a special place in my heart and Kara is no different. The minute I met her I liked her. Even Melita at the McGarity House and I would talk about how excited we were to do her wedding! On the wedding day the first thing Kara said to me was to ask about my daughter's braces! On HER wedding day! And she was so lovely and graceful the entire day. I have three little daughters and when they saw her photos, the said, "She's a pretty bride, Mommy." And I told them that not only was she pretty, but she was so nice, sweet and graceful. My only hope is my daughters can have such poise as Kara when they grow up! Congrats!!!

Celebrating 10 Years!

Today is my 10th anniversary. I can't believe we've been married for 10 years! We are SO blessed to have 3 healthy girls and a pretty good life. I never could have imagined my life being so good. I'm not going to go on and get all mushy on you! I'm just SO happy!!! :D

NOW about the cake! I took Valerie's photos a while back and noticed on FB that she makes AH-MAZING cakes. So, I asked her back in the Summer to make a cake for my husband for our 10th anniversary... and she did NOT dissapoint! It looks awesome.... but it also tastes incredible! Moist, yummy and fantastic!!! She is the Rockmart Ace of Cakes!!!!

One Shot Wonder For Your Weekend...

What a DIVA!

Friday October 1, 2010

She said YES!

Heather and Eric did the thing that I just love!!! They decided to see each other before the wedding. I know, I know! It's not traditional, but who is these days anyhow! The best part of it is that we had SO much time to take amazing photos of the two of them and the wedding party totally and completely stress free! No rushing or worrying about guests waiting. Which takes me to the second best reason for this.... After the ceremony, the guests only had to wait about 20 minutes till the Bride and Groom made their grand entrance. How great is that! Awesome photos AND no waiting! It's a very difficult decision for some, but ask the one's who've done it and they'll tell you it was worth every photo! :D

I love babies!

The best part of shooting baby photos? When a bride and groom from the last couple of years call me up to shoot them! THAT'S the best part of shooting babies! I mean... babies are cute and all....and that skin, and cheeks, and wrinkley legs..... But! When it's one of those little crunched up baby beans of someone I've been working with for over a year. THATS's the best part of shooting babies! Yeah, I have three of my own, and they are sooooo cute, and precious and squeezable! But! When it's a friend, and they invite me to thier house, and I chat with them about their first year of married life, and I see photos from the weddding framed on the wall that I took!?!..... THAT'S the best part of shoting babies! Shall I go on.... ? Okay. Here are two couples I've been working with for some time. Love them babies!! :D

I Heart Paige & Judson!

The thing I love most about Paige's wedding....her timeline! Whoot Whooot! I always stress a good timeline so we can have the time to take awesome photos, and she took it seriously. Paige booked me October of 2009 and actually spoke to me even months before that, so she is a planner, and you could tell! She set aside an hour for bridal photos, groom photos and couple's photos before the wedding. It made for a stress free photo party! Thanks so much Paige!!!

Wild Animal Park

We took a trip down to Pine Mt. this week and took the kids to the Wild Animal Park. Brooke especially loved to feed the cows and piggies. I liked the zebras and giraffes!
