You can call it mean, but I LOVE it when a mom or dad cries when they see their child's senior portraits!! (Insert evil laugh here)  Muwahahahah!!!  This year is such an important milestone in a senior's life, but also for the parents!!  They've seen their son or daughter grow up and this is a transition to adulthood.  Yes, the photos are amazing, but their tears mean so much more than that.  It's like a crescendo of all of their hard work as a parent!  I know this because I have two seniors of my own and shed a few tears myself!  So shed those tears mom!  Keep them coming!! You deserve it!
